29 Aug 2024- The Embassy of the Republic of the Marshall Islands in Taiwan (R.O.C) proudly marked a momentous occasion on August 28, 2024, as Dr. Jean Phillip, one of our esteemed and dedicated staff members, received her white coat in a distinguished ceremony at ShuangHo Hospital. This milestone signifies the beginning of Dr. Phillip’s four-year residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology—a testament to her commitment and our ongoing partnership with ShuangHo Hospital.
This achievement is particularly noteworthy as Dr. Phillip becomes the sixth doctor from the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) to join the esteemed ShuangHo residency program since its inception. Her selection underscores the strong ties and collaborative spirit between our nations.
Since the Taiwan Health Center’s establishment in the RMI in 2007, and with the support of the Taipei Medical University ShuangHo Hospital and the Taiwan Ministry of Health and Welfare from 2013 onward, we have seen remarkable advancements in healthcare. These efforts continue to align with the Marshall Islands’ top health priorities, exemplified by the Residency Training Program.
The ceremony, attended by key figures from the ROC (Taiwan) Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, ShuangHo Hospital, and the Marshallese community, celebrated this significant achievement. Hon. Ota Kisino, RMI’s Minister of Health and Human Services, contributed a pre-recorded message, and Ambassador Kattil delivered heartfelt remarks, congratulating Dr. Phillip and expressing deep appreciation for the Republic of China (Taiwan) Government’s steadfast support. Ambassador Kattil emphasized the RMI’s commitment to supporting Taiwan’s role in the United Nations and its specialized agencies, highlighting Taiwan’s outstanding contributions to global health.
