Marshall Islands, May 16, 2024 – Today marks a pivotal moment in the fight against cancer in the Marshall Islands as the Republic of the Marshall Islands Cancer Coalition (RCC) launches a comprehensive training event aimed at enhancing awareness, prevention, and treatment strategies across the nation.
Hosted under the esteemed patronage of the Secretary of Health & Human Services, Francyne Wase-Jacklick, the opening ceremony saw a poignant declaration of commitment to the cause. Secretary Wase-Jacklick, drawing from her personal experience as a daughter who witnessed her mother's battle with breast cancer, emphasized the critical need for prevention strategies. She stated, "As a daughter who witnessed my mother's brave struggle with breast cancer, I understand the profound impact this disease has on families. It is a personal mission for me to emphasize the importance of prevention. We must work tirelessly to ensure that our daughters, like my Little Barwa, are protected from the scourge of these diseases."
Her impassioned statement resonated deeply with attendees, igniting a shared resolve to prioritize prevention efforts to safeguard future generations.
The training event, organized in alignment with the RMI Cancer Plan 2022-2027, is a collaborative effort involving healthcare professionals, policymakers, community leaders, and advocates.
