RMI National Immunization Program Launches Effective Vaccine Management (EVM) Training
Majuro, Marshall Islands – The Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) proudly announces the launch of its Effective Vaccine Management (EVM) Training Program, marking a significant advancement in our nation’s immunization efforts. The opening ceremony on August 5, 2024, signals the start of a crucial initiative aimed at enhancing vaccine supply chain management and ensuring the highest standards of safety for immunizations across the country.
This EVM Training Program, organized by the RMI National Immunization Program and led by Immunization Director Ms. Noatia Siofilisi, is designed to equip healthcare professionals with essential skills and knowledge for efficient and effective vaccine management. Aligning with global standards, this initiative seeks to optimize vaccine delivery, minimize waste, and uphold rigorous quality standards.
The ceremony began with a heartfelt blessing from MOHHS Chaplain Mr. Biwij John. MOHHS Secretary Mrs. Francyne Wase-Jacklick delivered the keynote address, acknowledging the new Director for the RMI National Immunization Program, Ms. Noatia Siofilisi for her leadership and expressing her strong support for the EVM training and ongoing immunization efforts.
In her remarks, Secretary Wase-Jacklick stated, “As we launch this vital training program, let us be inspired by our Marshallese wisdom of ‘Añak Ka,’ which represents the wind coming from all directions. This spirit of unity and comprehensive effort guides us as we address every challenge in vaccine management with determination and a collective approach. By working together, we will ensure that our immunization strategies are effective and inclusive, reaching every corner of our nation.”
UNICEF Representative Dr. Abba Zakari Umar, based in RMI MOHHS, acknowledged the collective efforts that made the EVM training possible, commending all involved for their commitment.
The EVM Training Program, running from August 5th to August 8th, 2024, will focus on practical skills and real-world applications. Participants will engage in hands-on training covering crucial aspects such as cold chain equipment management, vaccine distribution, forecasting, data management, and outreach services. This training is expected to significantly enhance the capabilities of healthcare professionals and strengthen the RMI National Immunization Program.
Key Highlights of the EVM Training:
1. Training Objectives: The program will address essential elements of vaccine management, including inventory control, distribution strategies, and data management. Participants will receive targeted training to overcome specific challenges faced in the Marshall Islands.
2. Collaboration and Support: The initiative enjoys full support from UNICEF, underscoring the global commitment to advancing immunization practices. Special thanks to Mr. Paul Colram, an Effective Vaccine Management and Immunization Supply Chain Consultant from Scotland, who traveled to lead this training.
3. Participant Engagement: The event saw active participation from various members of the Ministry of Health and Human Services, reflecting a unified commitment to enhancing vaccine management and advancing public health outcomes in the Marshall Islands.
